More efficient emitters and sensors of terahertz (THz) frequency
radiation are needed in order to fully realize the technological
potential of this band of electromagnetic radiation. I will
present our recent work on the development of electro-optic (EO)
polymers as THz emitting and sensing materials. Experimental and
theoretical results will be presented showing the efficiency and
spectral bandwidth of these materials as well as prospects for
their use in compact devices. Optical pump-THz probe experiments
measuring the ultra-fast charge dynamics in organic photoconductors
will also be presented.
