N.P. Armitage notes on the Franck Hertz experiment experiment

The Franck-Hertz experiment is an early foundational physics experiment that provided support for the first quantum models of the atom by Bohr and others.  In 1913, the German physicists James Franck and Gustav Ludwig Hertz sought to experimentally measure the atomic energy levels. This now-famous experiment elegantly supported Bohr's model of the atom, with electrons that orbited on specific, discrete trajectories with distinct energies. Franck and Hertz were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1925 for their efforts.

A really really great virtual Franck-Hertz experiment.  I strongly suggest you playing around with this during or before you do the actual experiment.
