Application materials may be obtained from The Henry A. Rowland Department of Physics and Astronomy, The Johns Hopkins University, Homewood Campus, Baltimore, Maryland 21218, or by accessing online application instructions and forms. Application requirements for regular admission: 1. completion of the bachelor's or master's degree 2. transcripts of all previous academic work 3. three letters of recommendation 4. GRE scores for the verbal and mathematics aptitude test, as well as for the advanced physics test 5. statement of purpose 6. $55 application fee This fee may be waived for students with financial need or foreign exchange problems. Students requesting a waiver should attach a letter in their application explaining the circumstances. Foreign students must, in addition, submit their scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum acceptable score is 600. (A reproduction is acceptable.) Students are admitted only for the fall term; there is no spring semester admission. Applications and all supporting materials must be received by the department by January 15.
