IDL License Request Form

You can use this form to request that an IDL license through our site license. Before doing so,

Decide which version of IDL you need to have licensed. You can download the latest version (older versions too) at the vendor's web site after registering.
Check the computer system requirements at the vendor's web site.

Determine your MAC address.
Unique information about your computer is embedded into your license file. This unique info is almost always the Ethernet (or "MAC") address of your primary network interface, such as the wired connector. The MAC Address is 12 digits long, broken up into pairs, like this: 12:34:56:78:9A:BC. It's a base-16 value (also called hexadecimal), so the letters A through F are also considered to be numbers.
- On a Linux computer, you would use the command /sbin/ifconfig eth0
- On a Mac computer, you would use the command /sbin/ifconfig en0
- On a Windows computer, google for windows determine MAC address

When the license passcode has been received, you will be notified by email or phone.

Machine-specific information we need from you:

Client hostname 
Client LMhostid  (usually the ethernet address of the wired network connector)
Server hostname  (only needed for floating)
Server LMhostid  (only needed for floating)

If you are using Windows XP, then provide the Volume Serial Number as your LMhostid. (Please make a note in the comments field so we notice it.) The procedure to find that number is:
- Click on Start
- select All Programs -> System Tools -> System Information
- In that utility, double-click on Components, then Storage, then Drives,
- (ensuring that the View is set to Advanced)
- and look for "Volume Serial Number."

PLEASE NOTE IF THIS IS A REQUEST TO CHANGE AN EXISTING LICENSE! In that case, please specify the installation number of the previous license (which starts with 97446- ).
If you plan on using the departmental license server, rio-grande.pha.jhu.edu, to serve a floating license to you, please put instructions in the comment field on how to reserve it for you. We can reserve the new license(s) for either a group of computers OR a group of users. Please specify the approach and the list of either computers or users. (Be aware that your use of IDL will then depend upon our server functioning correctly and your computers being continuously connected the Bloomberg network.)
