Directions to the Homewood Campus


From the Northeast (Philadelphia, PA/New York, NY)

From I-95 or from I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway):

  1. Take I-95 south to the Baltimore beltway (I-695).
  2. Proceed on I-695 toward Towson. Exit on I-83 South.
  3. See the section below to get from I-83 to the department.

From the North (Harrisburg, PA)

From I-83 (The Jones Falls Expressway):

  1. Proceed on I-83 South to the 28th Street exit. Go east (to the left, using the overpass over I-83) several blocks.
  2. Turn left on North Howard Street.
  3. One block past 29th Street (where North Howard Street becomes Art Museum Drive), turn left at the traffic island (just before the Baltimore Museum of Art) onto Wyman Park Drive.
  4. When you arrive at a fork in the road (one block) where Wyman Park Drive intersects with San Martin Drive, bear right onto San Martin Drive
  5. Follow this curving road around the campus to the Bloomberg Center building (on your right, up the hill). The Space Telescope Institute (Stephen Muller Building) will be on the left.
  6. Metered parking is available in the lot further up the road past the Space Telescope Institute on the right.

From the West (Fredrick, MD/Pittsburgh, PA)

From I-70:

  1. Approaching Baltimore, I-70 ends at I-695. Take I-695 North towards Towson (this is a left exit).
  2. Continue around the Beltway to I-83 South.
  3. See the section above to get from I-83 to the department.

From the South (Washington D.C.)

From I-95:

  1. Proceed on I-95 North to the I-395 exit.
  2. Take that exit to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (MLK) and
  3. follow the directions below.

From Maryland 295 (the Baltimore-Washington Parkway):

  1. Entering Baltimore, I-295 becomes Russell Street. Stay on Russell Street until (with Oriole Park at Camden Yards looming before you) you reach the right-hand exit marked Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (look carefully for this; the signs are small).
  2. Take MLK Blvd until it ends at Howard Street (remain in one of the middle lanes of MLK Blvd to avoid a premature forced right or left turn).
  3. Turn left at Howard Street and proceed about 2 miles.
  4. One block past 29th Street (where North Howard Street becomes Art Museum Drive), turn left at the traffic island (just before the Baltimore Museum of Art) onto Wyman Park Drive.
  5. When you arrive at a fork in the road (one block) where Wyman Park Drive intersects with San Martin Drive, bear right onto San Martin Drive
  6. Follow this curving road around the campus to the Bloomberg Center building (on your right, up the hill). The Space Telescope Institute (Stephen Muller Building) will be on the left.
