Henry A. Rowland Department of Physics and Astronomy PUC Lab

Computational tools and methods that only recently were employed by scientists working at the the forefront of scientific research are now commonplace throughout physics. To introduce students to these tools and to the new ways of doing physics that these tools have made possible, the Department established the Physics Undergraduate Computer laboratory in 1996. Today, students in the courses "Introduction to Classical Physics",
"Mathematical Methods for Physicists", and "Classical Mechanics" routinely
use PUC Lab computers to employ these tools and methods.
The PUC Lab also serves as a gathering place for physics majors to work, talk shop, and conduct research.
In accordance with this mission and faculty direction, students doing coursework for "Introduction to Classical Physics" have the highest priority on the PUC Lab PCs. Students using Mathematica for course-work have second priority. All others have third priority. If the computer lab is full, users of lesser priority must yield to those with higher priority.
