Computer Center

The Computer Center maintains the networks in the the Bloomberg Center, the departmental servers and a growing number of Sun workstations for research scientists. Many research groups maintain their own clusters of machines. The Computer Center assists those groups by providing high-level services like a reliable TCP/IP network, IP address management, etc.

Campus Computing Resources
Before reading about the department-specific information for the Physics and Astronomy Computer Center, please be read a little about the resources available from the main university computer support folks: HITS - Hopkins Information Technology Services and its subsidiary, Networking and Telecomm Services (NTS). They offer free computer courses, lab rooms with Mac and PC workstations, distribute software (click here for a link to their catalog) (especially free anti-virus software (click here for a link to its home page)), maintain campus-to-Internet links, etc. Call their Help Desk at 410-516-HELP. Their staff also receives email for various kinds of problems:
