PHAnet Web Server Information

Departmental Information

There are a number of web servers in a department of our size and complexity. There are two different web servers involved in departmental web service.

One is maintained on University Windows servers running software called Site Executive (http://physics-astronomy.jhu.edu) and one runs on UNIX in the department. The latter is used to host personal web pages (those having the form http://www.pha.jhu.edu/~username) and a few other sections.

Course web pages. If you are an instructor, you need to know that the files visible via a web browser at http://www.pha.jhu.edu/courses/blah_blah are actually stored in the file system at /home/www/htdocs/courses/blah_blah2. (Login to a public lab workstation or mail.pha.jhu.edu to access that file system path.)
