HST in Normal Berthed Position

HST and enhancement components in the Orbiter Cargo Bay after routine rendezvous, capture, and berthing.
 

The selected mirror configuration is a table-top fold (two-folds) of the 8-m New Primary Mirror (NPM), the New Secondary Mirror (NSM) placed inside the fold of the NPM, and the combination, the New Mirror Assembly (NMA), mounted in an existing Space-Lab Pallet (SLP).

EVA Day 1 - Remove forward section of old light-shield

EVA Day 1. Remove Old Light-Shield section
and install IESS.

EVA Day 2 - Install New Light-Shield

EVA Day 2. Install New Light-Shield using RMS Arm and deploy radially.

EVA Day 3.1 - Install New Mirror Assembly

EVA Day 3.1. Install New Mirror Assembly.

The NMA/OTA interface ring is installed followed
by installation of the NMA using the RMS Arm. 

EVA Day 3.2 - New Light-Shield is deployed radially completing the installation

EVA Day 3.2 The New Light-Shield is deployed axially completing the installation.
