Center Management
The JHU MRSEC is managed by a Director who reports to the JHU Deans of Arts and Sciences and of Engineering. Administrative responsibilities include: setting policy on general research directions, directing the acquisition of new equipment, allocating post-doctoral and graduate student fellowships, evaluating the performance of ongoing research, providing seed support for new ventures, overseeing the Center's educational and outreach activities, and coordinating collaboration with industry. All Center issues are discussed and acted upon at monthly meetings involving all PIs.
Administrative Staff
Executive Committee
The resources in the MRSEC are allocated by the Executive Committee, which consists of the Director and three PIs who serve on a rotating basis. The Executive Committee is responsible for reviewing progress in ongoing projects and evaluating new proposals in the thrust areas as well in the seed areas. Investigators may submit proposals in the thrust or emerging areas at any time. Seed proposals are solicited annually. Successful proposals are expected to be multi-investigator in nature.
The performance and progress of the participating investigators, post-docs, and graduate students is reviewed semi-annually.
Advisory Committee
An Advisory Committee, which includes distinguished university and industrial scientists from outside JHU, meets annually to oversee the operation of the JHU MRSEC.
