Scope of the Workshop: this workshop is designed to provide a stimulating and interactive forum for sharing the latest advancements in the area of nanostructured magnetic materials for magnetic recording and spintronics, to give opportunities for open discussions with JHU faculty and students to present research, and to discuss possibilities for collaborations. This workshop is also an opportunity to establish new connections with colleagues from JHU and other participating members from industry, government, national laboratories, and leading universities. Several keynote speakers will present the sate-of-the-art in their field, new research breakthroughs, and current technological challenges. Researchers from the JHU MRSEC will present their latest scientific findings and discuss future directions of a new era of scientific development. This workshop is intended for scientists, engineers and technical directors, and managers from industry, government, and academia. We hope that you can participate and look forward to your attendance. The Workshop will include topics on: frontier of magnetic recording, magnetic tunnel junctions, highly spin-polarized ferromagnets, spin-transfer torque effects, exchange bias, multicomponent magnetic nanowires, biomagnetics, and others.
