IDL License Request Form

You can use this form to request that an IDL license. Before doing so,

You should be familiar with the different types of IDL licenses, which are explained on this page
In some cases, you will probably also need to have installed IDL before submitting your request (because you will need to run the IDL Registration program to secure the LMhostid information). You can install IDL, return the installation CD, submit your request, and then come back later to enter the licensing passcodes.

Please provide all of the requested information so your request can be fulfilled quickly. When you have completed the form, press Submit Form to send the form, or press Reset Form to clear the form and begin again.

When the license passcode or hardware hasp has been received, you will be notified by email or phone.

If your license type is Windows Node-locked, then you ONLY need to specify the CLIENT information.

If your license type is listed in this pull-down menu, then you need to specify BOTH server AND client information:
If your UNIX or Windows NT/2000 computer will run a license server to serve itself with a floating or node-locked license, then indicate that by duplicating the computer's information in both the server and the client fields.
If you are using Windows XP, then provide the Volume Serial Number as your LMhostid. (Please make a note in the comments field so we notice it.) The procedure to find that number is:
- Click on Start
- select All Programs -> System Tools -> System Information
- In that utility, double-click on Components, then Storage, then Drives,
- (ensuring that the View is set to Advanced)
- and look for "Volume Serial Number."

If you plan on using the departmental license server, rio-grande.pha.jhu.edu, to serve a floating license to you, please put instructions in the comment field on how to reserve it for you. We can reserve the new license(s) for either a group of computers OR a group of users. Please specify the approach and the list of either computers or users. (Be aware that your use of IDL will then depend upon our server functioning correctly and your computers being continuously connected the Bloomberg network.)
