During the summer of 1998, in conjunction with professors Gordon Garmire and David Burrows ,
I was involved in the launch of an X-ray sounding rocket . The launch
took place at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico in August. I
calibrated the CCD camera payload and prepared it for launch. We observed Scorpius X-1, a low
mass x-ray binary system which contains a neutron star rapidly accreting
matter from its companion.
The launch was successful and I completed my Master's thesis in July, 1998. My
