Planck's function

describes: the spectral brightness at wavelength of black-body radiation from a source at temperature    [P7.3, P10.1]

is given by: where is Planck's constant, is the speed of light in a vacuum and is Boltzmann's constant.   [P7.3]

is based: on the quantized interactions of electromagnetic waves in a cavity with the atoms in the walls, where the atoms are treated as oscillators with states of distinct energy.   [P10.1]
