Bravais lattices are such that they look exactly the same from every point on the lattice. Note that this is not true for the diamond lattice, which is really an FCC lattice with a 2-element basis. There are two possible views from the diamond lattice, (one from each point on the basis), so it's not a Bravais lattice.
