The previous example showed Brillouin Zones for a 2-D square
lattice. Different symmetries will have more complicated Brillouin
Zones, and these get especially complex in 3-D space.
The above figures were hand-calculated and drawn by a graduate
student in 1965, demonstrating the need for determining the
shapes and structures of these zones. The zones drawn above
are for simple cases for FCC and BCC lattices. Other
latties can become FAR more complex very quickly.
