Solids are demonstrated by vibrational motions of atoms about
their equilibrium points. Crystals are a subset
of these solids with high order parameters. Most of
the study of solid-state physics deals with crystals and
other highly-ordered materials, but not all. There are
some amorphous solids that are studied, or even intriguing
semi-ordered materials called quasi-crystals that
have interesting properties.
However, please note that the majority of solid-state
physics DOES deal with crystalline material, at least
at the introductory level.
Lots of fun
