The current Hopkins all have got a pattern now, a place to live, and are settled. I feel like I'm amorphous, floating, which is an essential feeling for a 2 month road trip, I guess.
At night, we rented "Fight Club", interesting ideas, what a way to begin a road trip. Late that night, I installed Linux (Mandrake 7.1) on my laptop (IBM Thinkpad 760 XL). My laptop can only have the internal floppy or the internal CD drive in at one time, so it's a problem to boot off a floppy and then read from the CD. Windows, which was preinstalled, came in handy, as Mandrake had some program to boot the linux loader through Windows itself. I've always used boot floppies to install linux, this was a different way, and it didn't really work right, until I randomly killed enough windows processes for the linux loader to kick in. I had no idea what was going on, but when windows died, and the Mandrake installer came up, I was back on track.
I was somewhere in western Baltimore, didn't get a latitude/ longitude or mileage reading.
