I then caught the end of the Kansas City Band from Tokyo again. Here, check
them out:
I then realized probably the only bad thing about the festival. There were three simultaneous stages, so if you're catching one stage, you're missing the other two. Oh well, thems the breaks.
I caught the New Red Onion Jazz Babies, which I don't remember. Here
is a shot of a band that I think is the Skillet Lickers, or something
like that. Nice sunset in the background, too.
Then I caught a band called the Elder Statesman, which was a bunchful of old fogeys and a woman in a wheelchair. They actually rocked. Then saw Gov't Mule, which featured Warren Haynes from the Allman Brothers Band, but I surprisingly wasn't into them too much. Finally, I saw Clarence Gatemouth Brown, playin' some mean kickin' finger-lickin' fiddle and guitar. Here's the Gatemouth.
For food I ate what was billed as "Farm-Raised Alligator On a Stick", but it basically seemed like an oblong-shaped piece of chicken on a stick.
Wandered by the autograph tent when Henry Butler was there. I'm usually not too into autographs, but when they rock as much as this guy, especially if they're blind and signing things, then ya gotta do it. I asked what advice he could give an aspiring keyboardist, and he said basically what I was expecting : PRACTICE.
Back at the pad that night I got the dial-up connection working through Mindspring. Tried getting it to work through the cell-phone, but didn't work :-(
