I was born in 1974 in Zhenjiang(a city famous for its rice vinegar), Jiangsu Province, P. R. China. As the top student in my high school, I was waived the national entrance exam and admitted to the Department for Undergraduate Intensive Instruction at the Nanjing University (NJU) in 1992, where I majored in physics. I received many awards during the four undergraduate years, including the Chien-Shiung Wu and Chia-Liu Yuan Award -- the highest honor for physics majoring student. I graduated with a degree of B.S. in 1996 and entered the graduate school of NJU in the same year, majoring in semiconductor and optoelectronic physics. |
