When There's A Script-Scene Discrepancy

(This page thanks to Subroto)

Sometimes, the script of a movie has a scene set in some particular location, and it turns out that things don't go as planned and they have to shoot
the scene elsewhere. At this point, one should ideally go back the script and remove all references to the prior location. I guess when you are only
worried about making sure you have enough acting (yeah right!) talent in the movie, you overlook such ``petty'' details. Don't get me wrong - such
oversights make Hindi movie-watching worthwhile!

Take for example  Agni Sakshi - the last in the line of Sleeping With The Enemy ripoffs that plagued us in the mid-90s. I have fond memories of
this movie, because I remember being guilt-tripped and blackmailed by my friends into watching such crappy non-off-beat extravaganzas as
1942: A Love Story (I didn't like it one bit even before I saw it - Ek ladki ko dekha my ass! - and actually, I ended up watching it twice - funny story,
heh heh), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun!, etc etc... I know, I know, you are already shaking your head and are ready to support my head on your shoulder...
But the reason I say I have ''fond memories'' of this movies is because when we all came out of the theater, everyone was silent, and it was as if
everyone had made the decision not to ever force me to watch such movies again, because I never got asked again!

Anyway, coming back to Agni Sakshi. The plot goes something like this: Manisha Koirala plays Julia Roberts (yeah, right!!! in your worst dreams!!!),
and Nana Patekar (the great ham actor) plays her abusive and compulsive husband, Jackie Shroff plays the new lover. I guess Jackie would be the
only redeeming factor in the movie (even though he doesn't get any better than Ding Dong, O Baby Sing A Song!!)...

The scene: Manisha and Jackie are sort of on a weekend away together, I think its to get away from the city and all that crap. They are supposed to be
at one of the countless Indian tourist magnet cities. The chick is a little apprehensive/nervous about the whole thing... And in their hotel room, the
following conversation takes place:

Manisha says something like, ``Mujhe yahan ajeeb sa lag raha hai, yahan itne saare log hain.''
(I feel kind of strange, there are so many people here)
Jackie says, ``Arrey baba, yeh hill station hai, yahan log nahin honge to aur kya honge''
(Its a hill resort, you don't expect it to be uninhabited, do you)

Fallacy in this line in the script: If you look outside their hotel window, you can see the clear beaches of Goa, with people in bikinis walking along the
sands.
