Hollywood To Bollywood

I've been meaning to make up a list of all the small and big shit that Hindi movies have ripped off from other places (mostly Hollywood) but if my Jingles/80s TV shows pages are any indication of my dedication to these tasks, I know that I won't be able to make up a good long list without your help. So get cracking on the emails!

This page has finally come into being thanks to billi's (jerryjr) comment on the Timepass Guestbook. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Note - Where ripoffs are concerned, the following phrases are synonyms: ripped off from, copied from, inspired from and shameless remake of.

Saat Hindustani (1969) The Big B's debut in the filmi world, this movie was ripped off from the Magnificient Seven (1960), which in turn was copied from Seven Samurai (1954). I'm sure that the Hindi version in this case was better than Kurosawa black and white boredom. I don't know, I don't really like Japanese stuff. They eat raw fish, you know.
Satte Pe Satta (1982) I ALSO don't like Hollywood musicals in general. When I say I don't like musicals, people say, ``But you watch Hindi movies, and they are ALL musicals!'' Not the same thing AT ALL. I have never watched Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (1954) in its entirety, but I'm sure the Hindi version is better. In fact, I HAVE seen the Hindi version more than once. Here's what it has that the original doesn't: Amitabh Bachchan, back when he was not too intolerable, a decent soundtrack invluding one of my all-time favourite tracks, Pyar Hamein Is Mod Pe Le Aaya. Ke dil kare haye, indeed!
