Jimmy Jimmy, Aaja, Aaja!

Towards the end of Jalwa, the Bollywood ripoff of Beverly Hills Cop, Naseeruddin Shah enters the villain's hideout in a Santa Claus costume. When spotted by a couple of henchmen, he goes, "Hah hah hah!! Aaj Christmas hai, aaj ke din main achche bacchon ko tohfe deta hoon! LEKIN GANDE BACCHON KO....." and pummels them with the jute sack slung around his shoulder.

Ghabraiye nahin, I am not here to pummel you with a jute sack. You, dear reader, have been good this year, and I intend to bring you gifts.

A couple different kinds of gifts, that is.

In Disco Dancer, one of the greatest masala movies of the 80s, and THE one that suddenly shot Mithunda into superstardom, Mithunda plays a young talented disco dancer who is spotted by David Brown (Om Puri), who, up until a few frames ago, used to manage the most popular disco dancer in the country (Sam, played by Karan Razdan). David Brown decides to promote Jimmy as the next great phenomenon. In order to convince Jimmy and his mother to come to Bombay with him, he says, "Dekh lijiye maaji, ek din Jimmy bahut hi mashhoor ho jaayega, aur us din Bombay ke kone kone par Jimmy ka naam hoga. Jimmy Perfumes, Jimmy Fabrics, Jimmy T. Shirt, Jimmy Ice Cream....." Sure enough, right after Jimmy performs Krishna Dharti Pe Aaja Tu on stage, we are shown stock footage of a newspaper press, and a variety of pink neon signs (all, for some reason, in a very sober Times Roman font) proclaiming: Jimmy Perfumes, Jimmy Fabrics, and, no doubt, Jimmy T. Shirt. [The period instead of the hyphen and the singular form were both part of the film, and they aren't my typos]

Earlier this month, after watching Disco Dancer for about the ninth time, I decided that Jimmy's long-forgotten chain of merchandize needs resurrecting. I decided to take this up as a personal project, and the result is the Jimmy T. Shirt page.

If you REALLY wanna show someone that you love them, and you don't buy into that diamond crap ["Diamonds... She'll pretty much have to" - Family Guy] then this might be just the Christmas or New Year gift for the special someone.

Oh, in case you're wondering, I don't make any money from this promotion, I just want everyone else to have a kickass Jimmy T. Shirt. If anything, show your pride in the magic of Bollywood cinema. Show your support for Karan Razdan.
